Ask 1 Question for Less Anxiety

1 Question for Less Anxiety:

Simplicity: the quality or condition of being easy tounderstand or do.

What if as your next week rolls in you sift your thoughts through the filter of simplicity?

Explore 1 question as you jump into your week:

  • How can I be a more relaxed version of me?

What if  you took this 1 question along with you every day, how would you imagine this practice might open up opportunities to “do life” with less stress in the New Year?

This is a question that came to me when I was in fetalposition, lying exhausted in bed, after a half a year of chemo treatments and 9surgeries as I  was made my way through advanced cancer back tocomplete restoration.

This question followed a proclamation I made during thesame time period: “WOW I never realized how much energy it takes tobe me.” In fact it took so much energy to be me that it almost killedme.

Don’t wait to give yourself permission to slow down and smellthe roses until your body is screaming so loudly you are literally taken out ofthe game of life.

Take Action:

Explore a few of the questions below and pull out 1 or 2 thatPOP out to you.

Take 15 minutes and journal your response and pin it up byyour work space as a reminder to slow down and practice being a more relaxedversion of you:

  • What can I shift in my intonation that would reflect a more relaxed version of me in conversions I have with my loved ones? Colleagues?
  • How can I shift my body language to reflect a more relaxed version of me?
  • How can I be more relaxed preparing for a work project?
  • How can I give this presentation more relaxed?
  • What if I brought a more relaxed version of me to the table as I explored solutions to my perceived conflict? What would that look like? Feel like? Sound like?
  • What if I woke up tomorrow and I was a more relaxed version of me? What would I notice to be different? What value would I bring into the world as a result of a more relaxed version of me? How would this affect the relationships I care about?
  • Would being a more relaxed version of me boost my confidence?

This week have high noticing around your inner voice: the words andphrases you choose to dwell on. Whatever you focus on grows BIGGER. Don’t letyour words be the BOSS of you.

Be the boss of the words you use to describe your life experience as wellas what you believe about your ability to overcome verses being overcome bycircumstance.

Speak LIFE into your inner thoughts. Give more authority to the strengthof God within you than to your circumstance.

Observe and delete any of the following negative choice points and replacethem with life giving words: kind, loving and supportive speech to yourself andothers…invite the Holy Spirit to help you clean out your mind trash.

Negative word choices that shut down and restrict your life:

Universal Quantifiers: Always, Never, No one, Nothing, Nobody,Everybody, Everything…these words create All or Nothing thinking and willprevent the brain from tuning into a variety of available options needing forsolution based thinking.

Modal Operators of Necessity: Have to, I Needto, I Should, I must, I Can’t…it’s necessary: this type of thinking andspeaking indicates a Lack of Choice and keep you stuck in mental muck.

As you expand your ability to explore and tune Into several differentoptions you will ignite solution based thinking.

Words to Use that Benefit You: expand, explore, consider, trust, look into, ignite, curious, fascinating…

I invite you for the next week to take a negative thought FAST. Negative interior scripts lead to exterior drama, heaviness and stress:

Blaming:

Any time you blame yourself or another person take a step back from thesituation and ask yourself what are you refusing to take responsibilityfor…it may come down to taking responsibility for your own sense of innerpeace, joy and happiness.

Complaining:

Complaining of any kind creates an exchange of negative energy between youand yourself OR between you and another person which actually has the ability toshrink your brain size.
