Nothing EVER Works Out for Me…REALLY?
Nothing EVER Works Out for Me…REALLY?
Learn:
Your mind is making thousands of associations as you travel throughout your day.
You have the ability to choose the associations made in your mind.
I invite you to wake up and expand your ability to hunt and gather information from your time line that contradicts any impoverished view of reality that may have a grip on you today. Is life for you or against you? When you find 1 piece of information that contradicts your impoverished views about your life, that information punches a hole in your conclusion and offers you a fuller model of reality.
For example, the impoverished view that spills out in the phrase: “Nothing EVER works out for me.” Can be debunked by pushing back on that universal quantifying statement with the phrase: “REALLY?… NOTHING EVER?…ever? Has worked out for you?” The mind then starts to hunt and gather information that contradicts the impoverished statement and will usually come up with evidence that punches holes in the impoverished conclusion that nothing EVER works out. At times it may take some effective questioning to put the recovery process in motion.
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) points out that you distort, delete and generalize information that does not align with the conclusions and assumptions you have made about life. You create filters based on the information you gather through your 5 senses and the conclusions you make about that information. This process gives birth to judgements as well as assumptions that prevent you from stepping into positive behavior as well as show casing the best version of who we are created to be on this journey of life.
This technique is particularly powerful when it comes to shifting your perception around your abilities and talents as well as your perceptions of people around you.
Tuning into your top 3 values in life gives you some powerful ammunition to combat the ugly cycle of “catastrophizing” your life away. Shift your focus away from what is not working out for you to what is working out for you and reflect upon behavior that backs up what you value most in life. This shift will create a positive impact in your personal and professional life.
When your behavior is not aligned with what you value most in life you will often throw out universal quantifying statements that keep you stuck: “No one EVER listens to me.” Practicing presence is another technique that gives you the opportunity to focus on what you can do NOW moving forward.
Reflect:
Singleness of heart is said to bless you in life. Run the race in such a way as to get the prize…that which you value most in this life…those things that bring about love, joy, peace, happiness, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self control, integrity and more love.
What do You value most in this life?
Clarity of focus leads to accuracy of response. When you spend time thinking about, spending time with and pursuing what you value most you will experience more of it in your life…Whatever you choose to do in this world give it 100% of your effort, even if you find yourself in a place of transition. When you put forth 100% towards that which you happen to be doing NOW you can’t help but swing open the doors to opportunity and possibilities.
Identify/Adjust:
When you find yourself experiencing any sense of shrinking back from life, resurrect a moment from your past when you felt strong, confident and capable.
Close your eyes and allow yourself to drop into that memory: what did you look like, feel like, sound like (your intonation) when you experienced feeling confident?
Remember, the conscious mind does not recognize the difference between imaginative thought and reality when the senses are activated.
Resurrect YOU feeling confident and capable then go for what you want in life and may God bless your choice to embrace your natural state of being: confidence…a true “David vs Goliath” mentality.
Action:
Let the highest virtues fuel your response to life: forgiveness, love, kindness and compassion. Begin this practice within your own inner self-talk. Look up to the right and engage the part of your brain responsible for creating new vision
Throughout your day as you say, “I choose to ignite God’s presence within me so that all that I think, feel, say and do is fueled by forgiveness, love, kindness & compassion.”
When you find an impoverished declaration slipping out of your mouth SNAP IT: Stop, Notice, Ask: What do I want to do about it now moving forward, Pivot away from the negative and step into the positive.
